Offiicially the worst blogger ever

Ok, so perhaps the blog isn't my thing as I have not updated it since August 08. Kinda sad when Jay has to ask me to update the blog, lol. I suppose since I have never told anyone about our blog I assume it is safe to forget about it.

There is lots to cover so let's get started. First of all we cancelled our Grand trip for last March. It was a hard decision to make but the right one. We decided that with Shirley being in questionable health and Turbo getting to be an old dog we should stick close to home. Since the trip was cancelled we started the New Year with an attempt at baby making, and guess what, it worked! So here I am in my 24th week of pregnancy.

We lost Shirley on February 13th, bless her. It still seems like she is here. I miss talking with her. I am happy she was the first person to know about the baby, at least she got to share that news with us for awhile before she passed on. What a woman she was, when I told her I had a secret she thought it was secret even from Jay. She never let on to anyone that she knew.

We have managed to do a little river running this year even with the Buddha belly. In April we did a San Juan trip on Allen's permit. Janie and her man joined us, which was super cool. Even though I don't get to do it nearly as often as I would like I LOVE being on the River with Janie. I'm telling you for some girl we picked up our one and only time in a bar together she has turned out to be an angel. Janie is an old soul no question about it she is just good through and through. It was just a quickie low-low water trip, 4 nights 5 days. It was time to leave just when we got used to being there.

Janie does this really cool "fire dancing" with glow sticks, she has me hooked. I have my own glow sticks now. I can get going pretty good but I haven't figured out how to do some of the more intricate designs. It us hard to practice when you have to worry about hitting your baby with a glowstick. I used a bob chair and a life jacket to pad myself with on our recent over night daily. It works surprisingly well.

We did an over nighter last week with "the llama". Had I not seen it with my own eyes I would never believe the fuss these girls on the daily make over Smitty. Two totally cute 14 yr old girls bared their bottoms to him, and us with Dave mind you. They yell and shout at him. One girl in a duck was close to us when we were tied off for lunch and she was so excited to tell her friend "look in the red boat it's the llama." It is no wonder Smitty never wants to take off of the River. HE doesn't receive that much attention anywhere else.

Tomorrow we will do a daily with Cully. Then on Monday it is back to Tucson. Jay is busy training for a week long ride in Colorado June 21-28th. I refused to stay here with Michael and Coya alone so he is taking me back to Tucson where I will stay for awhile. I have a ticket to go home to Missouri the 21-29th but seeing as how they declared a swine flu pandemic today I have a feeling Jay may not want me to travel. I will be in my 3rd trimester and he is already not impressed by my plans to go.

We have done a lot of back and forth this year with the dogs. They have been super travellers, especially this last time. When we go back this trip the baby's room will have been painted. I can't wait. We have our furniture bought and ready to pick up, so exciting. The bathroom will have new tile next to the tub. The Tucson house has never been more dialed in. The house is super organized, even most of the cabinets.

I have a Doctor's appointment on the 16th and we have an appointment with a Pediatrician on the 17th. We are signed up for Childbirth Education classes beginning August 10th.

Jay will be back to Tucson on or around July 1st. We plan to stay until the 9th. I can make my July appointment for the 8th and then I won't have to miss that appointment, or try to find someone here to do the check up. We will probably spend th e4th with Kevin and Rey. For my B-day I have been fantasizing about J Bar. Of course, I fantasize about Taco Bell too so that isn't really saying much.

I ordered Battlestar Galacta the mini series remake on Netflix several months ago; I had it timed to where it would be something I would watch while Jay made a Utah run but he didn't go so he ended up watching it with me and now we can't get enough. We are one disc into season 3 and we just LOVE the show. We can't wait for each new disc to arrive. The show gets better and better. I don't think we have ever not liked an episode. If we spent as much time reading parenting books as we do watching BattleStar we would be really awesome parents! As it is we are taking our chances because we think we know what not to do, plenty of examples of that around.

Grand Canyon Wedding 2009

Well, we have officially decided to get "hitched in the Big Ole Ditch" otherwise known as the Grand Canyon. We have had our permit for awhile now, but haven't done much with it as we have been unable to name an alternate trip leader. When Herm pulled out of the trip that let even more air out of the bubble, so to speak.......

Jay and I are in disagreement on whether Jen will make it or not, but one thing for sure is- JANIE will be there! Personally, I think Jenn will too! Paya, is well on her way to becoming a Grand Canyon River Maggot herself. And seeing as how the majority of her development happened down there while on a river trip, I do believe that she can handle it.

It's funny how small the world can be at times. We have seen Janie only twice since our 05 trip down the Colorado. Once last year at a Deso put in, and this year at a Westwater put in. There is just something about Janie. I feel as though she is my real life Fairy Godmother. Janie takes whatever comes her way with a beer, and a smile. Gotta love that! She is such a little sweetie, I feel totally confident in knowing she will be our Grand Canyon Wedding Planner. Yeah , baby!

Our Story

We meet on a Grand Canyon River rafting trip in August 2004.
One Grand trip, and two elkhounds later we are anxiously awaiting our March 2009 launch date for the Grand. A river trip is a great way to meet and fall in love. None of that pesky dating to bother with and you already know what the person looks like in the morning.
